Direct answer: Mangools Free+ is genuinely useful for a short keyword, SERP, backlink, and domain-research sprint. It is not close to unlimited. Two KWFinder searches consumed two keyword lookups and two SERP lookups, two detailed SERPChecker views spent two more SERP credits, a second tracking location was blocked, and SERPWatcher did not produce an immediate ranking baseline. Use it to answer a few focused questions, not as a free replacement for a crawler, Search Console, or ongoing multi-location reporting.
This is a hands-on test of the five Mangools tools on FloxoLab, which was about three months old and built from scratch when I ran the test. It is not a generic list of free SEO tools for small business and not a complete review of the paid Mangools plans. The narrow question is simpler: what can a new Free+ account actually reveal about one real young website before the allowances get in the way?
Affiliate disclosure. Mangools is linked here and near the end. If you create an account or subscribe through either link, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The findings below come from the same new Free+ account.
The short verdict
| Job | Free+ result | My take |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword research | Useful volumes, difficulty, intent, and a small domain-keyword sample | Best part of the free experience |
| SERP analysis | Readable result breakdown and SERP features | Useful, but credits disappear quickly |
| Rank tracking | Six keywords accepted, second location blocked, initial ranks still pending | Too slow for an instant trial verdict |
| Backlink research | Found real links and a large amount of obvious noise | Good lead list, not a quality verdict |
| Domain profiling | Compact authority and top-content snapshot | Helpful orientation, thin on a young site |
My overall verdict is positive but bounded. Mangools gives a new user enough real data to understand the interface and complete several useful research tasks. The strongest use case is focused keyword and SERP research. The weakest part of this test was rank tracking, because the Free+ account provided no first-position baseline during the first several hours and allowed only one domain-location combination.
What this Free+ account actually included
I created the account on August 13, 2026. The dashboard called it Free+, and the signup did not require a credit card. Before running any search, the in-account limit panel showed the following allowances. These are observed account limits, not a promise that every future signup will receive the same offer.
| Allowance shown in the account | Starting amount |
|---|---|
| Keyword lookups | 5 |
| SERP lookups | 5 |
| Site lookups | 5 |
| Backlink rows | 2,000 |
| Related keywords per lookup | 25 |
| Competitor keywords per lookup | 10 |
| Tracked domains | 1 |
| Tracked keywords | 50 |
Mangools also showed one AI Search Watcher monitor with five prompts, but I kept it outside this review because the core suite is presented as five products: KWFinder, SERPChecker, SERPWatcher, LinkMiner, and SiteProfiler. The official permanent-free wording and the Free+ panel do not show identical related-keyword and competitor-keyword allowances. Trust the live panel inside your own account.
How I tested the five tools
I used the United States database and English where a location was required, with desktop tracking for SERPWatcher. The test mixed branded product queries with real topics already published on FloxoLab. I recorded the limit panel before and after major actions so the review would show what each click cost, not just what appeared on screen.
- Find the domain's currently detected keywords in KWFinder.
- Research the target query mangools free trial.
- Open detailed SERPs in SERPChecker and watch the shared allowance.
- Create a six-keyword US desktop tracking project in SERPWatcher.
- Try to add a second country for the same domain.
- Inspect the backlink profile in LinkMiner.
- Open FloxoLab's overview, top content, and competitors in SiteProfiler.
A young site is a hard but useful test. There is enough real content and link activity to find something, but not enough history for every database to produce polished competitor charts. Empty states are part of the result, not something to hide.
1. KWFinder found early rankings and a workable target query
KWFinder's Search by Domain mode detected 15 US keywords for FloxoLab and displayed 10 of them under the Free+ limit. Most positions were between 31 and 57. That is a believable baseline for a new site, not a traffic success story.
| Detected query | Position | US volume shown |
|---|---|---|
| n8n logs | 31 | 50 |
| zapier starter plan | 36 | 720 |
| semrush vs se ranking | 51 | 210 |
| se ranking vs semrush | 54 | 390 |
| screaming frog | 57 | 12,100 |
The second lookup tested mangools free trial. KWFinder showed US search volume of 10, keyword difficulty of 20, commercial intent, and 25 related results. That is a small query, but it is tightly aligned with this article. The tool made the tradeoff visible quickly: low apparent difficulty, low volume, and a results page dominated by official Mangools pages.
The important limit was less obvious. After those two keyword searches, keyword lookups fell from five to three, as expected. SERP lookups also fell from five to three because KWFinder had loaded the right-side SERP overview. A user who thinks the products have completely separate allowances can spend two pools at once.
2. SERPChecker was useful, but the same SERP cost another credit
I opened the detailed results for mangools free trial in SERPChecker. The report labelled the query KD 20, showed 85 results, and identified an AI Overview and People Also Ask. It also made the ownership pattern obvious: Mangools pages held positions 1, 2, 3, and 5 in the captured results.
That view reduced the SERP balance from three to two even though KWFinder had already shown the same query's SERP preview. A second detailed query, se ranking vs semrush, reduced it from two to one. Across two KWFinder searches and two detailed SERPChecker loads, four of the five SERP lookups were gone.
This does not make SERPChecker bad. The interface is cleaner than manually opening ten results and recording authority metrics, SERP features, and result types. It does mean the free workflow needs discipline. Research the keyword list first, then spend detailed SERP credits only on pages you are genuinely considering publishing.
3. SERPWatcher accepted the keywords, but not a second location
SERPWatcher let me create one project for floxolab.com, United States, desktop, with six keywords. The setup screen still showed 44 keyword slots available. When I tried to create a second location for the same domain in the Philippines, Mangools returned a generic limit message for tracked domains or keywords.
The practical Free+ boundary is therefore one domain-location setup, not simply 50 keywords that can be split any way you want. For a US-only content site, that may be enough for a small watchlist. It is much less useful for a local business comparing cities, countries, devices, or map-pack visibility.
The initial check also was not instant. I created the project at roughly 9:30 PM. About four and a half hours later, every Rank field still showed a question mark. Some search volumes had appeared, but position history, ranking URLs, estimated visits, and SERP features were empty.
Rank-tracking result still pending. A question mark is not the same as “101+.” Mangools documentation uses 101+ when a processed keyword is outside the tracked top 100. The current SERPWatcher page describes weekly rank updates, with daily updates reserved for the Agency plan. I will update this section after the first Free+ weekly cycle instead of pretending the blank screen is a finished result.
4. LinkMiner found real backlinks and plenty of junk
LinkMiner's root-domain report showed Citation Flow 28, Trust Flow 10, 28 referring IPs, 33 referring domains, and 100 active backlinks, with one row per referring domain. It found legitimate links from FloxoLab's Hashnode profile and publication. It also surfaced many pages using obvious link-sale or PBN language.
A count is not a reputation score. LinkMiner can help locate referring pages, inspect anchors, and decide which sources deserve a closer look. It cannot turn 100 detected links into 100 endorsements, and Citation Flow or Trust Flow is not a Google metric.
The gap between CF 28 and TF 10, combined with the visible spam-heavy rows, suggests that detected link volume is stronger than trusted link signals in this dataset. It does not prove a Google penalty. I would verify suspicious patterns in Search Console and inspect material sources before taking action. I would not upload a disavow file because one third-party tool displayed ugly domains.
The account panel rounded the backlink allowance to “2k / 2k,” so this test did not expose a precise per-row reduction. That makes the 2,000-row allowance sound more measurable than it was in practice. The timer did appear, confirming that the allowance was active.
5. SiteProfiler gave a compact overview, then ran out of depth
SiteProfiler automatically treated floxolab.com as a root domain. Its overview showed Domain Authority 7, Page Authority 17, Citation Flow 28, Trust Flow 10, and 28 referring IPs. Popularity and Facebook data were unavailable, and the tool said there was not enough history data. That is a reasonable result for a site only a few months into its life.
The Top content tab ranked pages by referring domains. The homepage led with 33, several pages had two, and one visible case had one. That makes the tab useful for link concentration, but it should not be read as a traffic or content-quality leaderboard.
The Competitors tab returned no data. That is not a software failure by itself. A young site with limited ranking overlap may not give the database enough evidence to infer meaningful organic competitors. It does show why a domain scorecard can look polished while the next analytical layer remains empty.
Site lookups were easy to understand. Checking an exact Hashnode URL reduced the allowance from five to four. Checking FloxoLab reduced it from four to three. Moving between Overview, Top content, Competitors, and Backlinks for the same profile did not consume another lookup.
What Mangools told me about this three-month-old site
The five products did not uncover a dramatic secret. They produced a coherent early-stage diagnosis, which is more useful.
- Google visibility exists. Mangools detected rankings for relevant SEO and automation topics, but most were still on pages four through six.
- The site has a real link footprint mixed with automated noise. The known Hashnode properties appeared alongside low-trust sources that should not be mistaken for earned authority.
- History is the missing ingredient. SiteProfiler could not build historical or competitor depth, and SERPWatcher had not completed its first useful ranking snapshot.
- The next action is not “increase the score.” It is to keep publishing useful pages, improve internal routes, earn relevant links, and verify real impressions and clicks in Google Search Console.
This is why I am comfortable showing the real data. Low authority numbers and page-five rankings are normal for a young site. Replacing them with a cherry-picked established domain would make the screenshots prettier and the test less useful.
The limits that matter in practice
| Limit | What surprised me | How to work around it |
|---|---|---|
| 5 keyword lookups | A domain search and a keyword search each used one | Prepare the exact domains and seed terms before logging in |
| 5 SERP lookups | KWFinder previews used the pool, then detailed views could use it again | Open SERPChecker only for shortlisted queries |
| 1 tracked domain | A second country was blocked despite 44 unused keyword slots | Choose the single market that matters most |
| Weekly rank updates | No immediate baseline appeared during the first 4.5 hours | Create tracking early and do not base a same-day test on it |
| Third-party link metrics | Clean counts included obvious junk sources | Inspect sources and cross-check Search Console before acting |
A better way to use the free account
The free allowance works best as a planned research session. Do not click around randomly. Prepare the questions first, then use the tools in this order.
- Start with one domain lookup in KWFinder. Record the queries and pages already close enough to improve.
- Use two or three seed keywords. Save the strongest ideas before spending the remaining lookups.
- Open only one or two detailed SERPs. Check intent, result types, and whether the page is realistically winnable.
- Create one SERPWatcher location early. Choose the market carefully because Free+ may not let you add another.
- Use LinkMiner as an investigation queue. Separate known editorial or profile links from automated noise.
- Finish with SiteProfiler. Capture the overview and top-content distribution, but do not optimize for its authority scores.
Keep a screenshot of the limit panel before and after the test. That one habit revealed more about the free product than the marketing page did.
What Mangools does not replace
Mangools is a research suite, not a complete free SEO operating system. You still need Google Search Console for first-party clicks, impressions, query data, and indexing. You still need a crawler such as the free Screaming Frog SEO Spider for broken links, redirects, canonicals, titles, and crawlability. The five Mangools products do not provide that technical site audit.
It also does not replace a fuller paid platform when you need reliable daily tracking across locations, recurring crawls, client reporting, and larger competitor datasets. That is the boundary covered in my SE Ranking review. Mangools Free+ is easier to recommend for quick research than for ongoing client operations.
Who should try Free+, and who should skip it
Try it if you run one site, have a short keyword list, want a cleaner alternative to juggling several limited research tools, or need a quick backlink and domain snapshot. A freelancer can also use it to decide whether the interface and data presentation justify a paid plan later.
Skip or supplement it if your immediate job is a technical audit, daily multi-location tracking, a large backlink cleanup, or reporting across several clients. Search Console plus a crawler should come first for a small site's essential diagnostics. A paid all-in-one platform fits better when repeatable monitoring and reports are the actual job.
Bottom line
Mangools Free+ is one of the more usable free SEO-suite experiences I have tested for a focused research session. KWFinder and SERPChecker gave enough real data to make content decisions, while LinkMiner and SiteProfiler provided useful orientation. The catch is not that the tools are fake. It is that the most valuable limits overlap, backlink counts need judgment, and the rank tracker did not deliver a same-day baseline.
I would use Free+ to research one site and a few priority queries before paying. I would not call it unlimited, use its authority metrics as Google scores, or promise that its weekly tracker can replace a production reporting setup.
